Historically, Falcon Colorado Real Estate Has Been Important, and Still Is
Falcon is one of the more colorful historical areas on the plains northeast of Colorado Springs. Established as a railway cross roads in 1888 for the Denver and New Orleans and the Chicago and Rock Island lines, Falcon was an important rail location until the horseless carriage began to take over area roadways. By 1896 it sported 2 hotels, a school, a newspaper, two general stores, stockyards, a blacksmith shop, two train depots and six saloons. Even after the arrival of the automobile, the train depots continue to be important parts of the town even to this day. For nearly 100 years Falcon was a quiet, rural wide spot in the road, but when the first traffic light came to town, along with it arrived many people looking to move to the suburbs to start families and build or buy a reasonably priced home.
Falcon has grown tremendously in the last 30 years and continues to expand as a suburb serving Colorado Springs. Many developments dot the landscape, with some areas broken into 5-acre parcels with older trees and ponds. Primarily arid steppe, Falcon enjoys nice weather and a reasonable cost of living. One thing Falcon is known for is the Antler Creek Golf Course, which is the longest course in Colorado and the second longest in the nation. With good schools, large lots, and easy access for commuting to work, school, or entertainment, Falcon is a terrific bedroom community to look for a starter or family home.

Falcon Homes for Sale Can be Purchased Reasonably, But Are Going Up
Near the Homestead Ranch Regional Park, which contains a complete and original 1800’s Colorado steppe homestead complete with spring fed pond, Falcon is a quiet, unincorporated suburb where people still know their neighbors and participate in community events. With the close proximity for commuting to Colorado Springs and the surrounding area, Falcon is an ideal location for finding a starter home, a place to raise your family, or a retirement spot. A great deal of commercial development in recent years has added major shopping areas, restaurants, services and amenities to the community. With close proximity to both Peterson and Schriever Air Force Bases, Falcon is a convenient location for military families to locate. There are a variety of homes available in the area, ranging from new properties in developments to established ranch homes. Homes are still very affordable in this part of greater Colorado Springs, with a range starting around $270,000 and up to $725,000 for larger ranch home properties. Many parcels consist of 5 acres or more, making this area very attractive to people wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of greater Colorado Springs, but still be within a very responsible commuting distance. Highway 24 goes directly through Falcon, making access to most parts of town fast.
A fascinating piece of history also resides in Falcon, one which puts it on national radar pretty regularly – the Coral Bluffs Open Space, 700 acres of rugged terrain near town that is one of the oldest, most laden with specimens fossiliferous areas in the entire world. Paleontologists from around the world come to Falcon to study the fascinating layers of mammalian fossils post dinosaur die-off from some cataclysmic event. Over a million years of records are found in these cliffs and washes. The area is not open to the public, but it is accessible by arranged tour. Particularly fascinating are full moonlight hikes led during the winter months.
